Celtic Wedding Tradition – The Oathing Stone

The oathing stone tradition goes far, far back into the Celtic spirit. The ancient Celts were often seafaring groups of tribes, who by the time they had reached the British Isles, had a very firm and strong relationship with the sea or at least the waters surrounding their homes. Celtic tribal people were, like many tribal folk in those times, severely tied to spirit of place. In fact many of the old tribal names are descriptive of a particular place or natural feature such as a lake, river, valley or mountain. In the Celtic world view, Spirits were associated with each of these places, often tied directly to the tribe. In many cases, these spirits were regarded as ancestral spirits of the forebears of the Celts living there now.

It was important to seek blessing and it was important to state intentions in the form of an oath. This often took place at these sacred locations, special to the various tribes. So, it was not uncommon for a couple to not get wed in the eyes of their people and their chief, but also in the eyes of their ancestors to help gain their blessing and protection for the new adventure before them.

One of the origins of the wedding vow is this process of oathing the stone. In ancient times, vows were given at the very place and some physical object was used to help transfer these oaths to the spirit energies present in this sacred location. Sometimes a stone was used. Other times a piece of wood or some other natural object. This them would be gifted to the sacred place in some fashion. Perhaps thrown into the lake by both the bride and groom, laid reverentially upon a cairn of similar vows in a glade, niche or hollow. Perhaps thrown over a cliff into the sea far below.

As Celts became Christianized, such traditions, while allowed in the early Church, began to be cracked down upon and treated as idolatry and pagan worship. Yet with the Celts (and many other tribal folk, really) old ways died hard and what became a serious obligation of honoring one’s lineage and ancestry, slowly changed to a quaint and novel custom.

With the emergence of the New Age type of perspective, such traditions have been slowly coming back into favor and the meanings have subtly changed to be declared an honoring of the spirit of place, or a charm for luck and prosperity. In ancient times, it would be extremely bad form to neglect one’s ancestors on such a propitious day as a day of wedding. The Oathing Stone was but one way of honoring them.

In the more modern version of this ritual, the officiant (minister/priest) will be presented the stone by a member of the wedding party. The Best Man, The Chief Maiden perhaps or a parent of the Bride or Groom. The officiant will hold the stone and invite the groom to lay his hands onto the stone, and therewith give consent to in the presence of all of his ancestors both living and dead to bear witness to the words of power that he will speak. The words of his personal commitment to the woman he loves by the vows he brings forward. The same invitation is made to the Bride. Once both are holding the stone, they each recite their vows to one another.

Once complete, the stone is placed in a place of honor for the remainder of the ceremony. After the ceremony is complete, the newly married company release the stone back to the elements by whatever means is felt as being the most appropriate. Some people may toss it into the sea or the lake or river. Others may lay it upon a mountain or a man made cairn. Still others may wish to keep the stone and add it to the garden of the new home they make together or in a prominent location within their home.

If you are serious about your Celtic roots, this tradition is a great piece to add to your wedding ceremony and indeed to other of life’s little and great ceremonies, like naming your children, their coming of age, celebrating all the important times in their lives and yours, marking the passing of loved ones and so forth.

Oathing the Stone, while by today’s standards is a quaint little custom, it was in ancient days, a very serious part of many Celtic Tribe’s spiritual life.

Send Wedding Cake To Dubai

Wedding cake boxes and cupcake boxes are probably the most specialized bakery boxes on the market today. Wedding cakes come in many shapes and sizes. Finding or designing a fabulous wedding cake is hard enough but having to decide which cake box best fits your design is an entirely different problem. Modern brides combine tradition with a little bit of their own personal taste to create an intimate and memorable day for all present. Cupcake wedding cakes are an example of a traditional element that has been combined with modern design. Unfortunately wedding cupcake boxes are not as easy to find as regular Wedding Cake Dubai.

Most bakery boxes are made of some type of cardboard or plastic. Cardboard boxes come in many shapes, sizes, and colors. Matching your wedding cake boxes to other accent colors in your wedding decor is probably a good idea but when that becomes too expensive or impossible you may need to comprise. A good compromise would be to purchase a white or solid colored box. Use ribbons or other colorful adornments to find a match that works better. Cardboard cupcake boxes are not usually intended for wedding cupcakes so you will definitely have to find some other kind of compromise in the case of cupcake wedding cakes.

When shopping for any type of wedding cake box keep in mind that you don’t have to necessarily worry too much about the look of the box. The main purpose of each box is to transport a piece of your wedding cake to the hands and homes of your guests. Most people will throw the box away anyway so it’s kind of silly to spend too much money on getting fancy boxes or fancy ribbons just so they eventually end up in trash can somewhere. You can find and purchase all kinds of bakery boxes online. Some are sold in bulk to save you even more money. If you know the style and amount you want, finding a solution that can work for both your design and budget should not be too difficult.

Generally, surf the web, find what you want and then do a price check at other online stores. It is unlikely that a particular store will be the cheapest for everything, so you will need to work that one out for yourself. A suggestion is that when you are looking where you can buy your cake decorating supplies, just go for the store that had the fastest delivery and that ‘felt’ right – very scientific, but do trust your instinct and have fun unwrapping your goodies.

Romanian Wedding Arrangements

We are from Romania and have a great pleasure to present you the Romanian wedding flower arrangements and special bouquets made by us.

For a wedding, there are some special arrangements to make or buy from a flower shop. The most important and also popular is the bridal bouquet. It is different in accordance with the desire and common sense of the bride or her favorite flowers and, of course, with the financial possibilities of the godfather. Because, I dont know how it happens in the other countries and cultures, but here in Romania the bridal bouquet is in his charge. The godfather also pays the two wedding candles. The godparents nominate a best man and a bridesmaid who have to carry on the candles, following the bridegroom from his place to the brides house and then during the religious ceremony. These are special candles, made by wax with an wooden rod integrated inside used for give stability and for the candle not to inflect because of the warmth. They are 1,5 meters in length, with floral arrangements attached on the above part. So called wedding candles are lighted in church by the priest and symbolize the godparents wish for them to be protected by the Christian light all them life together. The candles arrangements must have the same shape, following an identical style and also to assort with the bridal bouquet and with the entire wedding style and spirit. This is a part of our work:

There are candles with diverse colors and shape, but in fashion is the simplest flat white candle. Thus the floral arrangement is the point of attraction. For create a wedding candle you need experience and courage and imagination too. Its the same practice that is used in the bridal bouquet, with mention that youll need more leaves and vegetal material. The easiest and the most popular method is that of using the floral foam special created for wedding candles. It has to be knot at 30 centimeters from the top of the candle. Then wire the leaves in accordance with the chosen style (round, irregular, flowing, spiral etc.) and finally stick the flowers. You can also use a ribbon made from an appropriate material to decorate the candles or to cover the part of the vegetal material that it has not to be seen.

Beside the bouquet, the florist can create for the bride other floral arrangements, little pieces of wedding accessories. A natural stylish bride can wear on her head a coronet made by natural flowers. Also her wedding bag can be decorated with a mini floral arrangement, a piece of her bouquet.

As the bride does, the godmother has a special floral bouquet too. This one can be totally different from the bridal bouquet. For make it, the florist has to know what the godmothers favorite flowers are and what the color of her dress is, because the bouquet has to fit her very well. Also the flower designer gives her advices concerning of bouquets dimension, form and style, so that it will mark out her body lines.

The bridesmaid has a bouquet too. Here came in Romania too the trend of the wrist corsage for bridesmaid, because she need her hands free to carry one of the wedding candles too. It can be round or irregular form or flowing, made from mini flowers wired one by other and tied by her hand with ribbon.

The cockades are a part of the wedding too. These are special mini arrangements made usually by one single flower or by many little flowers, artificial or even natural flowers. If they are naturals, it has to be the lasting ones. The most popular flowers used as cockades are roses, mini roses, chrysanthemums, daisies, santinies. For create these, the florist has to have dexterity, and also endurance, because its a meticulous work.

Its about a real practice: he has to cut the flower stem at 5 centimeters from the top and then to annex a leaves or gypsopgila and knot them with a very strait ribbon. He can also assort a fibrous or soft material behind. There are now special cockades holders which have easier the florist work. The bridegrooms cockade is different than the others, being considered a piece of the bridal bouquet. Its the bridesmaid job to fix them head-on the guests.

In Romania we inherit an ancient ritual of decorating the wedding tree that is celebrated even now in countryside. It can be garnished with artificial flowers but the tradition says that its good to use natural flowers, because of its symbolism. The tree suggests the youth and virility and its decoration with natural flowers means the opulent livelihood of the future family.
There are, as in many other sides, several types of flower arrangements, like those for wedding tables, for decorating the church, for cars etc.

This is the manifestation of Indias cultural diversity.

White is perfect for rituals and mourning since it signifies purity. Red Indian sarees symbolize valor, romance, passion, and fertility. This is a highly popular choice among brides. Blue colored ones were associated with the working people as peasants, artisans and weavers. Black is a sign of bad omen and defeat.

Digging more on the religion, Hinduism desires for the preservation of pure living. That is the sole reason behind these unwoven bridal sarees and wedding sarees. It was believed that any cloth that was pierced by a needle becomes impure.

How A Groom Can Write Love Letters To Make His Wedding Day Last For Years

The wedding day is drawing near. The invitations have been sent, the cake ordered, the rings purchased, the ceremony, reception and honeymoon have been planned. The bachelor party and wedding rehearsal are scheduled. What else is on the groom’s “to do” list?

What about the days following the wedding? After all of the investment in the wedding day, will the new husband and his bride weather the 50-50 chance of having a lasting and thriving marriage?

According to top psychologist Dr. John M. Gottmann, men are often emotionally deficient when it comes to expressing fondness and admiration to their spouses. Well, now may be an excellent time for grooms-to-be to intelligently plan the emotional success of their upcoming wedding.

Love letters. Are you and your fiancee exchanging them during your engagement? Personal love letters are one of the most revered ways that husbands and wives communicate. Drafting and writing a personal love letter takes energy, thought and time. As a matter of fact, the success of marriage preparation programs depends upon how willingly a couple shares their feelings, affectionate and otherwise, with each other.

Dr. Gottman’s book, The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work, builds on the concept of making regular deposits in a bride’s emotional bank account. One of the exercises for building fondness and admiration is thinking of and writing down one’s positive feelings for the other person. Writing a personal love letter to your bride for your wedding day is a gift that will be treasured for years. Here are eight rules to follow.

Rule Number One: Make the Letter Positively Personal
Anything put into writing can be read, saved and reread. The first rule for a personal love letter is to make it personal and positive. Love letters carry a message of worth from a groom-to-be and new husband that affirms and cherishes his bride. So, it is critical to make a list of the positive things about bride wife that you want to assert. Avoid any critical, ambivalent remarks. Let them go and focus on what you cherish about your new bride.

Rule Number Two: It’s About Her
A personal love letter is a direct communication to and with your fiancee. Use the word “you” early and often. Share your feelings. My parents have been married for more than 55 years. On my mom’s 80th birthday, our family gave personal testimonies that we taped and made into a DVD. My dad stood up and used the song, “You Mean All the World to Me.” He choked up with emotion in front of us all and it was so powerful to witness the love he had for his wife.

As a groom-to-be, you don’t have to wait 55 years to make that happen. (My dad didn’t!) Start now. Make your bride-to-be feel special on your wedding day and many days afterwards.

Rule Number Three: Start with a Special Endearment
If you have a special name for your fiancee, use it. Write a personal greeting, like
– My most beautiful ______________ (your bride’s name)
– Dear wonder of my life
– You’re the best thing that happened to me

Rule Number Four: Make it Specific and Meaningful
With a little practice, writing a personal love letter becomes a great habit! Make sure that the words you write express things that are specific and meaningful to your upcoming wedding, yourself and your bride.

For example, you may write a personal love letter that includes how you felt when you first met, what events in your engagement have meant a lot to you, things that you admire and appreciate about your fiancee, special thanks for favors done, or for any reason that you can find. (Remember, the more reasons, the more letters!)

Rule Number Five: End with Love
Don’t just write, “well, that’s about it.” Get creatively romantic. Use something that sums up your feelings and lets your bride-to-be know that you continue to love her. Use endings like: Forever Yours, All my love, With love forever, I am so happy you are in my life, You mean the world to me. Then, sign your name.

Rule Number Six: Make It Pretty
A bride-to-be loves getting a special gift and the packaging is often as important as what is inside. In other words, don’t write your personal love letter on the back of a paper bag. Make it pretty. Use special stationery (you can visit a scrapbook store and buy just one sheet for less than 50 cents.) Or write your letter in a romantic greeting card.

Use your own handwriting, too. A card typed on a computer seems artificial and mechanicals. Decorate your letter with a personal drawing like hearts or XOXO (shorthand for hugs and kisses), or use stickers. Use her favorite color envelope.

Rule Number Seven: Special Delivery
Make sure your personal love letter gets your fiancee’s attention. Use surprise. Mail your letter in a special envelope, like Priority Mail or through Special Delivery. Put the letter on the front seat of her car, on her dinner plate or tie a balloon to it when you pick her up for a date.

Rule Number Eight: Turn Your Wedding Letter into a New Habit
Trust and ongoing commitment rank high with every woman. Write another personal love letter when you go out of town or mail one to arrive on Monday after a long day at work. Your engagement and marriage will grow with love beyond your imagination as you regularly write a personal love letter to your fiancee.

With a little consistent effort, grooms-to-be can write personal love letters that create a hope-filled atmosphere, and enjoy a thriving and happy marriage that goes well past the wedding day.
